Artist's Comments

Grizzly Falls, Kings Canyon National Park, California, USA.

Long exposure taken hand held. There were too many people in the way to set up my tripod! :(

This is a very intense picture. At first glance it may look like an ordinary long-exposed waterfall shot, but when you take a closer look you can see that it is much more than what it appears.

The wet rocks provide textures that are very appealing to the eye, almost like a painting that was just finished by the artist, and the deep blue sky on the background adds a lot to the pic contrasting with the green of the plants and with the white water veil, creating a very beautiful composition.

The exposure is perfect and the shutter speed couldn't be more accurate, letting the water veil flow smoothly through the rocks. Not to mention that it was handheld! Overall, this is a great photo, and with the excuse of the expression, OMG!

Handheld? What was the shutter speed? Its seems suprisingly sharp, shame you couldnt set up the tripod.

I love how you can see where the rock has been worn away by the water over hundreds of years.

I so miss things like this. There's nothing like it in Florida.

:( Florida has some downright beautiful beaches, though!

The shutter speed was only about 1 second. I had to use 2 neutral density filters since it was midday, and 1 second was all it needed to get the water to look this way. Still, it's pretty hard to keep the camera steady enough!

Yes, beaches are great, but I'd trade them any day for mountains.

Its a great job to keep your camera so steady for a second, i can barely manage 1/10, what focal was this at?
