Hey everyone . . . just a quick update. . . .

School has been murder this quarter, but it's a good thing.  It's helping me to really realize the things I need to work on to better myself.  I pulled my first all-nighter ever Monday-Tuesday; I was awake for 38 hours with only a 30-minute catnap in which I was half awake, that is, awake enough to perceive that there was sound and voices around me, but not awake enough to register what those voices were actually saying.  I was so dead tired when I finally hit the pillow.

So the culmination of all that is the very reason I haven't been as active here on good old DA as much as I have been in the past.  I expect it might be like that next quarter too, and definitely next year, seeing as my classes will get harder.  But I'll be taking plenty of photos on my 1-week vacation coming up a week and a half from now, and I'm sure I'll be more active during the summer, although I will be taking a couple of classes.  It kills me that I can't participate in one of my two most passionate hobbies/activities, but alas, I need to think about my future and school needs to remain at the #1 priority.  Expect new pictures soon, once I get done with finals, maybe even a couple before if I can spare a couple of hours.

I want to say thanks to all my new watchers who haven't been able to see any new material yet, and I want to thank all my old watchers who continue to appreciate my work.  You guys are awesome.

On a side note, I have decided I will be submitting my work to the school photography department at the beginning of next quarter to try and get into the minor.  I need something more hands-on to do with my school life, as I am a very hands-on, visual learner.  Plus, I have an extremely good feeling that learning more about photography will doubtlessly help me with my future career in at least some way.  I think putting an English major and a photography minor together can yield some extensive job options.

A friend of mine also told me this past Sunday that I should talk to her manager at the coffee shop she works at.  She has a good feeling they'd like to feature my work in their coffee shop so I can make some money in print sales.  Very thrilling.  I will be talking to them about that soon.

To the best of my knowledge, this is the first work I've suggested as a DD that actually became one.  I was just about to turn off my computer when I saw this picture that I suggested yesterday in the list of DDs.  So, here's to DD suggestion #1.  It's a gorgeous picture.  Show the deviant some love.  He's got talent.

I've been so busy this week I've not had the time to write about last week's adventures!  My gallery opening, which happened last Thursday evening, went incredibly well.  Lots of friends showed up, as well as people I didn't know, and it was nice talking to everyone about my photos.  There were so many questions people had that I found pleasure in answering; it made me wish this was something that could happen on a weekly or monthly basis.  I was also in the university newspaper last week, as they did an interview on me about my show.  20 or so (yeah, I failed to count them!) of my pictures are on display for a month so people can stop by and see them whenever they like.  The whole experience of having my work featured in a gallery for the first time is like a dream come true.  I'm very pleased.

I got to meet ~twelvemotion finally for the first time.  He showed up to the opening.  He's a local photographer that came across my work here on deviant art.  You guys should take a look at his gallery.  He's a really nice guy.

Anyway, that's it for now I guess.  I'm sicker than a dog with a terrible sore throat and sinus infection.  I think I'm going to the doc later to see if I can get any medications to get over this bug quicker.  Got to catch up on episodes of Lost and Fringe that I missed this week, and then start cracking on an essay on Michelangelo.  I'll try to upload a new deviation or two if I can.

Hey guys!  My photography exhibit is finally being released tomorrow evening!  The show is titled Visions and it will be in a gallery in the student union building of the Cal Poly university campus, and the show is opening at 6 pm.  I'm very exited for it.  Two days ago I was interviewed by the university newspaper, and the article is in circulation today.  Several of my friends have already read it, but I've yet to go to campus to give it a look!  I'm going to pick up a couple of copies once I get there.

Last week I had a great photo shoot out on my own in the hills of San Luis Obispo.  I was suffering from a runny nose and a cough while I was there, and the chilly wind was whipping pretty hard, making my nose red, but there was no way I was going to leave that easy.  I hadn't done a photo shoot for weeks and I needed that time in nature.  I think it turned into one of my best photography days to date, though the numbers didn't really add up once I posted my photos here on deviantART.  I think that's one of the frustrations for artists . . . the images we think are our best don't get recognized like we think they should.  Either that, or the new stacks system is making people not see everyone's work.  I personally think only work from groups should go into stacks.  So, here are the images from that evening if you've yet to see them, and I have a few more that I'll be uploading in the days to come.




I want to take a brief moment to thank all my new watchers, and for all the nice comments and favorites you guys have all given lately!  It means a lot!

Yep, you heard me!  Yesterday I sold my first print it appears!  The wonderful ~EmilyKPhotography told me it was she who bought it.  It's thoroughly exciting that someone I've never met appreciated my work enough to buy a print of it!  This was the image she bought:

The contest that I talked about starting is going to have to be put on hold awhile.  I'm just too busy this quarter with school to think about hosting something like that.  I'll keep it in my back pocket though, and pull it out when the time is right.  The number of deviations I need to look through has now shot up to 4000.  I feel so bad, I want to see everyone's beautiful work but I haven't had the time!  I'll try to start sorting through it now; we'll see how far I get.
